Modeling by Shahina
I have found that artists and photographers enjoy a model who moves well and requires little or no direction,
yet is willing participate in the artist's vision. I have an expressive face and can display a depth and
range of emotion which is elusive to younger models.
To my way of thinking, there are at least two types of photography: first, commercial photography, which
seeks to capture a visually perfect image of a physical object, perhaps even to portray a perfection which
does not exist. This is of limited interest to me.
The second is artistic photography. This seeks to capture and bring to light sublime inner qualities which
may not readily be observed with the naked eye, or which allows the viewer to see the subject from a
perspective which they might not otherwise have taken. This is where my interest lies, and I love to see
what a collaborative effort of creative minds produces. I am particularly interested in working with
sculptors and painters in addition to photographers.
My preference would be to hang in the Art Institute one hundred years from now. I want to create images
that hang in your front hall or are displayed in a garden as a life sized statue.
I am ever exploring new avenues of expressing my creative spirit. Dancing, writing and modeling are my
primary channels of artistic expression. I am energetic and motivated, striving constantly to hone
my skills. As a professional Middle Eastern dancer and teacher, I supplement my training with ballet,
modern jazz, and yoga. This intense regimen over time has dramatically changed my appearance.
Consequently, I have a need to regularly "refresh" my portfolio with photos that reflect my current physique.
"I hate flowers. I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move."

A few words about Professionalism
I conduct myself and my business in a professional manner. I find that working out all the business
details of the shoot in advance leaves us free to be creative on the day of the shoot. When I commit
to a session, I will show up and I will be on time. If I expect to be late, I will phone. I expect
the same of the people I work with. Excuses are for children.
A few words about Travel
I am willing to travel as long as expenses are covered. I do require that travel expenses be
paid in advance. This can be done on my web site through PayPal.
A few words about TFP
I may occasionally shoot TFP for artists who have a truly unique vision, but by and large I am
seeking paid work. I have found that a photographer who has an investment in the session is more
likely to A) show up, and B) take an interest in editing images to create a finished
product. All TFP work must offer a shared copyright and unlimited use with proper credit.
