The music is this area of the bellydance bookstore is not Middle Eastern. It is suitable for modern dance as well as yoga, meditations or just listening. A well-rounded dancer studies all forms of dance, and this requires all forms of music.

Interpretive Dance:

Keiko Matsui:
Keyboard player Keiko Matsui grew up in Tokyo, and took her first piano lesson at the age of five. Influenced by Stevie Wonder and Rachmaninov as well as Maurice Jarre and Chick Corea, she began composing while in junior high, but studied children’s culture at the Japan Women’s University.
Keiko Matsui is an excellent choice for moderately lyrical dance as well as yoga, meditations or just listening to for pleasure. These are my favorites. I also own her Cherry Blossom album, which I care less for because it has more of a pop sound.
