Most show in one way or another the fantasy aspect that has spawned so much misunderstanding of Middle Eastern dance, while at the same time keeping belly dance popular over the centuries.

Belly Dance LP Covers   I actually own the albums pictured in the main gallery. I used them for practice when first learning to dance. A dancer must be experienced if she has danced to phonograph records!

Bellydancers and Harem Girls   A historical cheesecake gallery. This is by far the best collection of its type on the web.

Orientalist Art   Fanciful paintings of dancing harem girls and the like as were popularized by the orientalist movement that swept western Europe in the late 19th century.

Movie Posters   featuring belly dance or harem themes. In French.

Historic Dancer Posters   Vintage posters with a belly dance theme. In Dutch.

Arab Sexy Women   Glamour shots mostly of Lebanese belly dancers. Despite the name, this site is strictly G-rated, with pictures that are more wholesome than most American billboards or television shows.

Arabic Celebrities   Another Lebanese site. Useful for viewing the costuming and makeup styles favored by contemporary Arabic dancers and performers.
